What does it mean to be an engineer?
I believe that at its core, engineering is about solving problems. Engineers take advantage of physical principles to manipulate the world around them and create solutions. I choose to be an engineer because I love to build things that help people and make their lives better.
To get to know a bit about me, here are some fun facts:
I’ve attended 9 different schools and lived in 9 different houses across 3 countries.
I’ve competed in Monopoly tournaments, inspired by my middle school science teacher who represented the US at the 2015 Monopoly World Championship in Macao, China.
I once went skydiving to date a girl and she rejected me.
I was on a girl’s basketball team in High School. I was the manager, but we had so few team members that I had to run practice with them.
I taught myself music production so I could record a friend who writes her own music.
I love driving. I’ve driven a stick shift, a forklift, a motorcycle, a jetski, a snowmobile, and a plane.
I impulse bought a miniature pie maker and have since made hundreds of miniature pies for friends.
I was the vice-captain for the tennis team in high school. I played in 4 countries including a European tournament held in Germany.
I’ve performed as Tim the Beaver, MIT’s mascot, for events.
I made an Instagram with pictures of craft sodas to compete with my friend’s foodie Instagram.
I have a board game collection that includes over 100 boards, including 27 Monopoly boards. My favorite game is Flash Point.
I’m a St. Louis Blues fans and I’ve touched the Stanley Cup.
I have a bartending kit that I use to make mocktails.
I own 12 suits, including a few wacky ones like a camouflage one.
When I was a junior in high school, my dad promised to buy me a 3D printer if I got 5’s on all my AP Exams. The printer he bought me sparked a love of 3D printing.
One winter, the sports field at MIT froze over and I ice-skated on it.
A lens popped out of my glasses so I started 3D printing frames.
I dabble in everything.
